Knights on the tournament trail

By Clare Mefferd

The seniors at Crestview wrapped up their school year after finishing their last exams. All the seniors had mixed emotions about finishing up their high school career.  Senior Elizabeth Saylor said, “Senior year was my favorite year in high school because I had fun spending time with friends and making good memories.” The seniors are now just waiting on the big day, June 8, to receive their diplomas and make their high school careers officially over.

The Knights baseball team is on their tournament run after defeating Minster last Thursday evening and then advancing on to become District champions after their win against St. Henry with a score of 11-3 last Friday.  The Knights play again this afternoon in the regional semi-finals at the Carlton Davidson Stadium in Springfield against Tri-County North.  The game will start at 2 p.m.  Sophomore catcher Nate Owens said, “We’re just taking one game at a time, continuing to put the ball in play, and making good things happen.”

The track team is still in the game with a few regional qualifiers.  Malcolm Oliver in the long jump, Isaiah Kline in the 400m dash, and the 4x200m relay team consisting of Oliver, Kline, Zach Jellison, and Preston Zaleski.  Also Mycah Grandstaff with head on to regionals in the 3200m run.  He won the district title and set a new meet record with a time of 9:50.75.

Oliver said, “We set a lot of personal goals and we’re accomplishing them, our guys have really improved.”
