Rockford park gets new scoreboard

Rockford village news

As the 2013 summer season kicks off, The Rockford Recreation Association is excited to unveil another new addition to the Shanes Park complex for the 2013 baseball and softball season.

A new electronic scoreboard has been added to Diamond 2 above the right-center field home run fence. This addition was made possible through a generous contribution from CenturyLink. Tyler Thompson (formerly from Rockford), CenturyLink local area plant supervisor in Bellefontaine, helped coordinate this effort with the Rockford Recreation Association.

“CenturyLink recognizes the importance of youth sports activities,” Thompson said. “We understand that the community supports the efforts of the Rockford Recreation Association, so we are pleased to support their efforts as well.”

CenturyLink has a rich history of supporting local communities. Its employees live and work and raise their families in and around Rockford and are proud to work for a local company committed to improving lives and communities in the area.

CenturyLink supports the area through financial and volunteer investments, including the Chambers of Commerce, economic development initiatives, education, United Way, food banks, and culture and arts, among others. CenturyLink employees volunteer hundreds of hours to help make the region a better place to live and work.

“We are pleased to support the Rockford Recreation Association where programs and recreational activities help enrich the lives of hundreds of youth in the Village of Rockford and throughout the surrounding area,” Thompson added. “CenturyLink is proud to support Shanes Park and the scoreboard at Diamond 2.”

This summer, the Rockford Recreation Association will provide baseball and softball programs for more than 300 local youths playing on 28 different baseball and softball teams that are a part of the Rockford Recreation Association.
