Niswonger PAC news

Vancrest Health Care Centers proudly presents the Community Concert Series at The Niswonger Performing Arts Center.

The Community Concert Series is celebrating its 60th year of bringing engaging music to the region. Tickets for the four concert series are now on sale for $60. Purchasing the four concert series provides a 30 percent discount from single event purchasing and offers musical entertainment spanning from October 2013 to April 2014. This season reflects a diverse line-up of acclaimed musicians from near and far that will grace the Niswonger stage.

The Community Concert Series gracefully begins on Sunday, October 20, with one of the most adored female vocalists of all-time, Debbie Boone. Her show titled, “Swing This!” reaches back into the songbook of her mother-in-law Rosemary Clooney. Debbie will make it a day guaranteed to “light up your life” as her revered musical gift is delivered in a jazzy new way.

On Sunday, December 1, the Sonos Handbell Choir from San Francisco, Calif., delivers a Christmas performance of a most appropriate style.  This ensemble’s virtuosity has mesmerized audiences at major events around the world, including performances at the World Ice Skating Championships and recently on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion”. What says Christmas more than shiny bells creating beautiful holiday music? All ages will be held captive by the timeless Christmas sounds of the Sonos Handbell Choir.

On Sunday, March 9, The Toledo Symphony performs beloved music by Rodgers & Hammerstein. The full symphony orchestra is complemented by the talented voices of two fine local singers, soprano Mary Ann Falk and tenor Jake Wilder. Delight in the beloved music from The King & I, South Pacific, Oklahoma, Carousel, The Sound of Music and so much more.

The series reaches a grand finale with the Voices of Unity Youth Choir on Saturday, April 26. This group is two time champions of the World Choir Games and has drawn critical acclaim on international stages. Directed by Marshall White, the Voices of Unity Youth Choir closes the series with a joyful and rollicking concert featuring a tribute to Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.
