Virginia M. Hoffman
Virginia M. “Ginny” Hoffman, 84, of Van Wert, died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born October 6, 1928, in Decatur, Ind., the daughter of the late Frederick and Marie (Schueller) Kukelhan. She married Howard M. Hoffman, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hoffman was a homemaker who was also retired as a cafeteria worker for the Van Wert City School District. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert and the Ladies’ Guild of the church.
Survivors include five children, Linda (James) Sheppard of Van Wert, Lois (Robert) Victor of New Philadelphia, Dana (Lisa) Hoffman of Dallas, Ga., Beth Wyatt of Kanas City, Kan., and Jill (Jerry) Wermer of Van Wert; a brother, Walter (Lorna) Kukelhan of Decatur; three sisters, Emmalou Stegman of Ossian, Ind., Dorothy (Clarence) Oetting of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Alice Bauermeister of Ossian; 11 grandchildren, Ben (Kate) Sheppard, Rachel (Pete) Van Niel, Aaron Victor, Alison Victor, Alexis Victor, Aaron Hoffman, Lindsay Hoffman, Marcie (Ryan) Teel, Clair Wyatt, Ryann Wermer and Reed Wermer; and six great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Albert, Elmer and Frederick Kukelhan; and a sister, Betty Hill, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. William Barlow officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
