All Star Football Game coming up in June

The 14th annual Van Wert County Hospital All Star Football Game hosted by the Van Wert Booster Club will be held Friday, June 14, at Eggerss Stadium in Van Wert.  The gates will open at 6:30 p.m., with player introductions taking place at 7:20 that evening. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Thirty-three players from the Western Buckeye League will compete against a combined squad of 33 players from the Midwest Athletic and Northwest conference.

Three Van Wert players will participate in the game for the WBL squad, including Logan Ray, Nik Wolford and Terrin Contreras (click here for a complete WBL roster).

Other area players on the MAC/NWC squad include Venice Roberts, Jake Harmon, Avery Jones and Josh Ream of Crestview, Mark Boggs and Kody White of Delphos St. John’s, Drew Kortokrax, Quinten Wessell, and Evan Stant of Delphos Jefferson, James Brown and Lance Foor of Paulding, and Derek Goecke, Dominick Corso, Coleman McCormick, Lucas Krouskop and Lucas Shumate of Spencerville (click here for a complete MAC/NWC roster).

The MAC/NWC currently leads the series with a record of 8-5, including winning the first five games of the series, but the WBL has won five of the last eight games, including last year’s 36-25 victory (click here for series records and individual leaders).

Head coach for the WBL is Jared Rolfe, with assistant coaches, Trent Temple, Tyler Foulkes, Derek Wenning, Jay Imwalle, Dean Miller, Brennen Bader, Matt Hodge and Steve Bader. Head coach for the MAC/NWC is Jerry Cooper, with assistant coaches Scott Palte, Craig Lehmkuhl, Brian Wical and Mike Leidy.

All tickets are $5 at the gate. There will be no presale tickets available. If the game is canceled because of inclement weather, the rain date will be at noon on Saturday, June 15.

This is a fundraiser for the Booster Club. Come out and enjoy some football.
