Patrol plans Community Shield training

The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be conducting a Community Shield training at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at the post, 10234 Van Wert-Decatur Road.

The Community Shield program was launched in July 2012 and is a training program designed specifically for the general public to help the Patrol contribute to a safer Ohio.

Community Shielf is a one-hour program that teaches community members how to spot illegal activity and includes instruction in impaired driver detection, criminal patrol and illegal drug interdiction, homeland security, human trafficking and how to safety report possible criminal activity or highway dangers.
