Bruce R. Byer

Bruce R. “Barney” Byer, 59, of Ohio City, died early Friday morning, June 7, 2013, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born March 13, 1954, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Harold and Virginia Ione (McDorman) Byer.

Survivors include Mary Gallaway of Ohio City; two children, Amanda Thomas and Erik Byer, both of Van Wert; two brothers, Tony (Kelley) Byer of Celina and Jason Byer of Ohio City; four sisters, Phyllis (Phil) Battels of Ada, Linda (Jack) Trice of Convoy, and Leandra (Vince) Brummette and Tammy (Gary Jr.) Carter, both of Van Wert; three grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

A brother, Mark Byer, also preceded him in death.

No funeral services are planned.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert.
