Hurless earns Black Inc. Award for 2013

The Black Inc. “Outstanding Senior of Van Wert County” award was given to Joseph Hurless of Van Wert High School. Hurless received the award Sunday afternoon at Van Wert High School’s graduation ceremony from Jan White, senior vice president of human resources and facilities at Central Insurance Companies.

The award includes a check for $2,000, plus a Black Inc. medallion.

This year marks the 68th anniversary of the Black Inc. awards. Black Inc. was founded by L.G. Purmort, a former president of Central Insurance Companies, in 1945 to help young people stay out of the “red ink”. Upon his death, he left funds in a trust to continue the awards, which are administered by The Van Wert County Foundation.
