Ready for the Big Announcement?
Are the people in the picture below waiting to hear about the “Big Announcement”? Or are they part of the Fountain Park crowd gathered to hear Phil Dirt & the Dozers? If you want to join those waiting to hear what all the hubbub of 6.12.13 is about, you are about to find out. This Wednesday, June 12, we are announcing the 2013-14 season at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio. It is a season that has been in the works since November of last year. That’s nearly a half-year of planning!
We have opened the announcement to the general public. With a simple call to the box office at 419.238.NPAC (6722), anyone curious could attend and find out first hand who is coming this year and how to get tickets for each concert or show. Media from throughout the region, numerous underwriters and sponsors of the season, programming and publicity committee members, as well as board and staff will welcome guests to the announcement. Depending on when you are reading this, you have or soon will learn about what I truly think will be our greatest of all seasons at the Niswonger.
Not often am I able to say that nearly everything we wanted, we got. But this year, I can say that we did get what we wanted and what we didn’t get will have to wait for the next season. And that provides a very good start for the next year.

I can say that we have 24 concerts, shows, speakers, and events as part of the upcoming season. Country, Pop, Jazz, Broadway, kid’s entertainment, vocal, instrumental, comedy, Contemporary Christian, Classical, and some wonderful surprises comprise our new season. Many of the people you will see on our stage are and have been seen regularly on TV. I will just say that if you are someone who has been watching certain TV shows in the last few months, weeks(?) or so, you will instantly recognize some of our artists we have coming this year.
We expect many of the events to be so popular they may nearly sell out by the time we finish our Select Series purchasing. This means it may behoove you to look at the entire season and select three or more events you want to attend. This allows you to purchase tickets earlier than waiting the customary 90 days prior to the event to purchase just that event’s ticket. Those who want to attend everything may purchase the Grand Series and will have the first option to reserve seats, followed by the Select Series, and then the single event ticket sales approximately 90 days in advance. Discounts also apply for bundle (multiple event) purchasing; another motivation to buy early!
If you have ever bought a ticket at the Niswonger in Van Wert, you should be on our mailing list and will soon receive our new catalog, which is being printed and mailed at the end of this week. So, look for it in your mailboxes. It will include all the information I wish I could share with you now plus much more on all our artists, concerts and shows.
Please take note of all our underwriters and sponsors this year. We have welcomed some new clients on board and hope their investment is well spent. With your support of their businesses, I am sure it will be. It is largely because of their support that we are able to keep our ticket prices for such highly regarded performances much more affordable than many other venues throughout the country.
Hey! It was great seeing an estimated 3,500 people in Fountain Park this past Friday night for our opening summer concert with Phil Dirt & the Dozers. The weather cooperated and it was a beautiful opening to a community favorite- the Fountain Park Summer Music Series.
Next up, Bostyx. This is a band playing the music of two superstar rock bands from the Seventies and Eighties: Boston and Styx. The music will be great, but let me tell you from experience, unless you really enjoy being up front and “in the action”, you may enjoy this band better from a few rows back. I set my chairs close to the speakers last week and I will move back next time! That’s just the way it is. The following week is Big Band Swing with the Toledo Jazz Orchestra. It’s always fun in Fountain Park!
FINÉ.
