VFW athletes of the year

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert recently presented its Athlete of the Year awards. The winners this year were Kaitlyn Brant, “Female Athlete of the Year”, and Joseph Hurless, “Male Athlete of the Year”. Runners-up were Courtney Perrott and Joel Genter. Also recognized was the Ohio VFW District 2 “Scout of the Year” Travis Lippi. The evening included a spaghetti dinner that was enjoyed by the awardees, their families and several officers and members of the Post. The awards were given to the recipients by District 2 Commander William Short, Post Commander Colleen Wiley and Award Chair Ashley Showalter.
