Adelina (DeLeon) Alvarez

Adelina (DeLeon) Alvarez, 77, of Van Wert, died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her residence.

She was born March 24, 1936, in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the daughter of the late Abundio and Manuela (Garza) DeLeon. On February 14, 1959, in Homestead, Fla., she married Guillermo “Willie” Alvarez, who preceded her in death on April 30, 2012.

Survivors include three children, Adelina Alvarez, Griselda (Steve) Goings and Rolando (Sara) Alvarez, all of Van Wert; a brother, Abundio DeLeon of Harlingen, Texas; one sister, Amparo Rodriguez, Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; and five grandchildren.

Two brothers, Abel and Arnold DeLeon; and a granddaughter, Emily Goings, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Clark Williman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the funeral home.
