Firecracker Bike Tour info released

The Van Wert County Historical Society is hosting the 20th annual Isaac Van Wart Firecracker Bike Tour on July 4.

The departure and finishing point is Jubilee Park. Routes of 18-, 32-, and 64 miles are available, with rest stops in Middle Point and Venedocia. Departure time is approximately 7:30 to 10 a.m. Those taking the long route are advised to leave by 8:30 a.m.

There will be a post-ride meal available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. served at Jubilee Park. Non-riders may participate in the meal by purchasing a stamp for $6. Children 5 and under are free.

Registration forms are available at area businesses or by contacting the Historical Museum. The registration fee includes route maps, route markings, sag wagons, sag stops, refreshments, route radio communication and post-ride meal.

Food stops will spaced over the routes at approximately 20-mile intervals. Ample amounts of fresh water, fruit and cookies will be provided.  Race registration forms can be found on the Historical Society’s website at http://vanwert.com/museum/
