Rockin’ in Fountain Park on Friday
We return to Fountain Park this Friday night with a concert of Seventies and Eighties rock music from two of the most iconic rock bands of that era: Boston and Styx. The band playing Friday night, Bostyx, is literally playing all over the country this summer, from California to Arizona and Wyoming to Van Wert, Ohio.
Fronted by lead singer David Victor, who is currently also guitarist and singer for the actual Boston band, Bostyx is one of the most authentic tribute bands and the only tribute band exclusively playing hits from these two iconic rock bands. If you are a fan of the classic rock music of the Seventies and early Eighties, you won’t want to miss this concert.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. and there will be food available in the park provided by Willshire Youth Activities. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, or stand to enjoy a rockin’ concert this Friday night in Fountain Park.
If we’re rocking this Friday, we’ll be swingin’ next Friday night. The Toledo Jazz Orchestra will take us back to the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s when swing was king and Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Stan Kenton were playing some of the best dance music ever written.
The big news about the Niswonger’s 2013-14 season was released at a fun event this past Wednesday. If you haven’t heard yet, we have some great performers coming to Van Wert this season, headlined by two of country music’s biggest stars, Trace Adkins and Kellie Pickler. Fresh off their winning appearances on television’s “The Apprentice” and “Dancing with the Stars”, respectively, we expect tickets to go quickly!
Here’s the ticket information for the Niswonger. NPAC members may purchase tickets beginning Wednesday, June 19. Those wishing to purchase Grand Series (most everything) may do so beginning Thursday, June 20. Select Series (you pick ‘em: three or more concerts) will be available beginning Wednesday, June 26. Box office hours are noon-4 p.m.
Trace Adkins tickets will be made available to each of these buyers with the purchase of the above mentioned packages. His tickets are not discounted, but by purchasing any of the above packages, you will have the opportunity to purchase a Trace Adkins ticket. If any seats remain, they will be sold to the general public beginning August 15. But to assure your seat at his special Niswonger concert on November 16, you may want to consider purchasing at least a Select Series and get in early on the ticket buying.
Some of the other highlights (and I hate to leave any out because I think they will all be spectacular in their own right) are Michael W. Smith, The Ohio State University Marching Band, Tony Orlando’s Christmas, Dave Koz & Friends, Point of Grace Christmas, two Broadway shows: The Addams Family and West Side Story, and “Jungle Jack” Hanna. Check out the entire line-up on our website www.npacvw.org and on face book. If you are one of the nearly 10,000 people on our mailing list, you will be receiving our season catalog in the mail very soon.
These are exciting times for the performing arts in Van Wert, “Where inspiration is Alive!” Catch a piece of the action.
FINÉ.
