Richard Manken

Richard Manken, 85, of Van Wert, died at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born December 2, 1927, in Van Wert, the son of the late James and Velma (Farling) Manken. He married Lou Esther (Clouse) Manken, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include three children, James (Joyce) Manken of Celestine, Ind., Sharon (Mearle Stone Jr.) Stone of Stendal, Ind., and John (Carrol) Manken of Grove Spring, Mo.; a brother, Gerald Manken of Van Wert; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Ellen Edwards.

A sister, Phyllis Gehres, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Monday, June 24, at the funeral home.
