Hams have field day

Members of the Van Wert Amateur Radio Club held their annual Field Day over the weekend as part of a nationwide test of ham operators’ ability to make connections with other radio operators. Van Wert Amateur Radio Club member Jack Snyder said stormy weather in various parts of the county affected the number of connections made this past weekend, but noted the local group still managed to make radio contact with ham operators in Hawaii, The Virgin Islands and Rhode Island (a difficult area for connections due to the state’s small size).
