OC woman charged with rural burglary

VW County Sheriff’s Dept. news

An Ohio City woman was arrested on a warrant issued in connection with a rural Van Wert County residential burglary that occurred Tuesday.

Kristin D. Heath

Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach said that Kristin D. Heath was identified as a suspect in a residential burglary in Liberty Township. The sheriff’s department was notified at 12:26 p.m. Tuesday of the residential burglary, which had just occurred. Heath was then identified as a suspect in the burglary and a warrant was obtained through Van Wert Municipal Court.

Information on the suspect and her vehicle were then distributed to law enforcement agencies in surrounding communities and, at approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday, Heath was located in Mercer County by an off-duty Celina Police Department officer. Celina police then arrested Heath and took her into custody. Several items believed taken in the burglary were also recovered from her vehicle.

Heath was later handed over to local deputies and she is presently incarcerated in the Van Wert County Correctional Facility on one count of burglary, a felony of the second degree. Sheriff Riggenbach said his department’s investigation into the burglary is continuing and additional charges may be filed.

Heath will make an initial appearance in Municipal Court today at 9 a.m.
