OC Blue Ribbon Workers learn about beekeeping
By Hannah Kraner, Reporter
On June 23 The Ohio City Blue Ribbon Workers welcomed Brent Hamrick to their group to share his hobby of Beekeeping with them. Brent told the group he started out with just a few hives and has built that up to enough bees to make 80 gallons of honey . Brent showed the group photos of drone bees, the worker bees and the queen bees. He explained that the worker bees are the bees that sting- the drones do not. Most of the members were relieved to hear this!
Once finished with the discussion the group was invited to come up and see the beeking equipment and supplies that Brent brought to show with them . he also gave them many fliers and recipes using honey and the advantages of honey in everyday life. The members of the group all agreed that Mr . Hamricks presentation was very interesting and informative . It is much appreciated that he was able to come to the meeting and volunteered his time to share his hobby with them. Mr. Hamricks honey business is called: Pleasant Ridge Apiary, 8470 Dull Robinson Rd., 419.771.9523.
David May also presented the group with his scheduled demonstration on Perthes disease. David was recently diagnosed with this disease and is being treated with braces on his legs to help correct it. The group wishes much success for David in this treatment.
Also giving a presentation was Jamison Clouse who demonstrated on how to make a duct tape wallet .
The next meeting will be July 7 at 4 p.m.
