‘Pack to School’ program deadline soon

Just a reminder that the Van Wert County Department of Job and Family Services is offering a new school supplies purchasing program for county students.

The “Pack to School” program provides a backpack containing many (not all) of the required school supplies for eligible children in grades K-6 during the 2013-2014 school year.

The deadline to apply for the program is Friday, July 12. Income eligible families currently receiving public assistance through the county DJFS should receive an application in the mail on or before Wednesday July 3.

Application forms are available for other families wanting to participate in the program. Families must meet eligibility requirements, including residing in Van Wert County and meeting income requirements as shown at right.

Parents of eligible children who have applied by the July 12 deadline will get a letter in the mail by August 12 providing information on when and where to pick up the backpacks and supplies.
