Help announced for Pick ‘N’ Save workers

With the local Pick ‘N’ Save grocery store slated for closure at the end of the month, a Van Wert County Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) group has met with Van Wert store manager Kyle McCluer to assist employees of the store with job searches, resumes, training and the use of the Van Wert One-Stop Office facility for free Internet, printing, and related services. The service is available for businesses with 50 or more employees.

The DJFS group includes a regional workforce specialist, a representative from the local unemployment office and the Van Wert Economic Development Office.

A JFS session to assist Pick ‘N’ Save employees is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, at the Pick ‘N’ Save store. The last day for most employees will be August 1.

“Our office will assist Kyle and others associated with the store in any way possible to lessen the burden and, hopefully, we can see a new business in its place soon,” said Economic Development Director Cindy Leis.
