Maurice J. Miller

Maurice J. “Mo” Miller, 88, of Van Wert, died Friday morning, July 12, 2013, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

He was born January 4, 1925, in Fort Wayne, Ind., the son of the late Walter and Edna (Weitfeldt) Miller. He first married Hildegarde (Salomon) Miller, who preceded him in death on November 10, 1978. On May 14, 1982, he married Julia (McCarthy) Miller, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include two sons, Douglas M. (Nancy) Miller of San Antonio, Texas, and Alan D. (Lisa) Miller of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Cathryn S. Miller; one infant son, Michael D. Miller; and a brother, Ronald Miller, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 15, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Phillip Zielinski officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, where graveside military rites will be performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Preferred memorial: Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert.
