Woman arrested for drug trafficking

A local woman was arrested on drug trafficking charges related to a search of her residence early Thursday morning.

Stephanie Fannon, 33, of 317 S. Market St., was arrested at her residence and charged with trafficking in heroin in the vicinity of a juvenile, a felony of the fourth degree. She made an initial appearance on the charges Thursday morning in Van Wert Municipal Court.

The Van Wert Police Department served a search warrant on Fannon at approximately 1 a.m. Thursday at her residence. The search resulted in seizure of a number of items, including a substance suspected to be heroin, several prescription medications, marijuana and cash.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges could be forthcoming when the case is presented to the Van Wert County Grand Jury.
