‘When Pigs Fly’ sponsor
First Federal of Van Wert, represented by (from the left) Jessica Hardesty and Suzie Grimes, is sponsoring a “When Pigs Fly” event for this year’s Van Wert Rib Fest. The Rib Fest was established seven years ago as a fundraiser to benefit the Van Wert Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, represented by Larry Lee (at right). In addition, this fundraising event will help support many United Way area agencies, represented by United Way Executive Director Deb Russell (second from right). At approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 3, the United Way will drop little plastic piggies from overhead. Each pig relates to a corresponding raffle ticket selling for $10 each. Closest pig to the “pen” wins $650, second closest $350, and the pig farthest away wins $250. Tickets are available at the United Way, First Federal offices at 679 Fox Road, or from any United Way board member. For more information call the United Way at 419.238.6689 or CVB at 419.238.9378.
