YM fall sports registration coming up

The YMCA of Van Wert County fall youth sports registration will start Monday, July 22, and run through Saturday, August 24. This includes registration for flag football, girls’ volleyball and soccer.

Girls and boys ages 3½-12 are eligible to register for flag football and soccer; and girls ages 6-13 are eligible to register for volleyball. Flag football games for those ages 3½-5 years old will be held Thursday evenings starting September 17 and ending October 22. Flag football games for those 6 years old and older will be played on Tuesday nights starting September 19 and ending October 24.

The 6-year-olds and older divisions will be based on the number of participants in the program and their ages to ensure safety and friendly competition. Soccer games will be held Saturday mornings, starting Saturday, September 21, through October 26; and girls’ volleyball games will be held Monday evenings, September 16 through October 21.

New to the fall youth sports lineup will be a junior high soccer league for seventh and eighth graders.  Along with the addition of the junior high league, the youth sports program will present a “player of the game” medal to one player at each game and host a pool party at the end of the year to celebrate the season!

“Implementing these new fun events has the kids that are playing the game excited and focused,” said Program Director Mitch Price. “Hopefully they are making childhood memories while encouraging new players to come out and participate.”

Registration fees are $15 for family members of the YMCA of Van Wert County; $25 for youth members and $60 for potential (non) members.
