Jewell (McBrayer) Hale

Jewell (McBrayer) Hale, 90, of Springfield, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Essex of Springfield, surrounded by her family.

She was born June 17, 1923, in Elliott County, Ky., the daughter of the late William P. and Beatrice Mabry. On July 8, 1972, she married George Hale, who survives in Springfield.

Other survivors include two daughters, Paul (Ron) Shook of Springfield and Jean Ann (John) Auld of Van Wert; a sister, Jean L. Lewis of Morehead, Ky.; one sister-in-law, Faye Mabry of Springfield; five stepchildren, Beverly (Terry) Legg, Bonnie (Rick) Ward and Bryan Hale, all of Beaver, Brenda McHaffey of Mesa, Ariz., and David (Hank) Hipply of Wooster; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A brother, Chalmer E. Mabry; one brother-in-law, Elmer Lewis; and a stepson, Bill Hale, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3, at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home in Springfield, with Pastor Danny Stinger officiating. Burial will be in Tick Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Ky.

Calling hours are from 3-6 p.m. Friday, August 2, at the funeral home.
