Cougar golfers lose to Bryan squad

The friendly confines of Willow Bend Country Club weren’t all that kind to the Van Wert Cougars as they dropped a non-conference golf match with Bryan 175-184.

Bryan was led by Vogelsong’s two-over-par 37, while Van Wert was led by junior Brandon Hernandez, who carded a five-over 40.

The Cougars continue to be plagued by double and triple bogeys and need to quickly figure out how to hole the ball from 150 yards and in, according to Coach Jeff Hood.

The junior varsity team was also in action and lost as a team as well. Jacob Covey and Gabe Rollins were the low men with a 56.

The Cougar varsity travels to the Defiance Invitational on Monday.
