Community band concert announced

VW Area Community Concert Band news

On Friday, August 16, the Van Wert Area Community Concert Band will present its final concert in the band shell of Fountain Park in Van Wert, with the program to begin at 7 that evening.

Music performed during the concert will be new and contain a wide variety of musical genres, to include a Neil Diamond medley, “NFL Highlight Clip Themes”, some Fifties, Sixties and Seventies swing and rock and roll, and music to help get people ready for the upcoming football season.

A food stand will be available, starting at 5:30 p.m., with food served by the local Eastern Star chapter.

Van Wert residents are urged to join the band, which is directed by Richard Sherrick and features members from Van Wert, Elida, Lima, Delphos, Convoy, Payne, Chattanooga, Middle Point, Decatur, Ind., and Rockford, for this entertaining concert.

Band members appreciate the continued support of local residents. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be canceled. The band will also appear August 31 in the Entertainment Tent at the Van Wert County Fair, with a 4:30 p.m. start time.
