Clide E. Ford Jr.

Clide E. Ford Jr., 86, of Van Wert, died at 2:04 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born October 20, 1926, in Van Wert, the son of the late Clide E. Ford Sr. and Ruah Jane (Gamble) Ford. On May 22, 1955, he married Patricia (Harden) Ford, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include three daughters, Cynthia Elaine (fiancé Terry Rigby) Ford of Fort Wayne, Ind., Vickie Lynn (Clay) Smith of Winchester, Ky., and Deborah Sue (James) Pfoser of Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Gloris E. Ford of Van Wert; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Four brothers, Gilford “Gil” Ford, Jim Ford, Henry Ford and Clayton Ford, and two sisters, Vetha Sennebogen and Viola Mae Ford, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 15, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Calling hours are from noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
