Sheriff reports ‘home invasion’ burglary

Another home-invasion style burglary was reported by the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Department on Monday.
According to Sheriff Tom Riggenbach, a county resident was assaulted during a burglary that occurred Sunday at a Pleasant Township home.
According to the sheriff’s department report, dispatchers received a call that one or more people entered a garage at the residence in question and, when the homeowner heard a noise and went to the garage, he was assaulted by one of the alleged burglars.
After assaulting the home’s resident, the unknown suspects fled the scene.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation of the Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office was contacted the process the scene, and the Van Wert Police Department also assisted at the scene.
