VW girls’ tennis team downs Titans

The Van Wert Lady Cougar tennis team earned a 5-0 victory in a Western Buckeye League match played against Ottawa-Glandorf on Monday.
Van Wert’s No. 1 singles player, sophomore Ali Moreland, defeated Amy Schmiedebusch 6-2, 6-4, while No. 2 singles player Sydney Dull won 6-4, 6-4 over Lady Titan Tiffany Kahle. No. 3 singles player Claire Butler defeated Haley Recker 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles play, the No. 1 Cougar doubles team of Hannah Stemen and Sydney Felger downed Alyssa Schnipke and Lauren Schneeg 6-4, 6-3, while Van Wert’s No. 2 doubles team of Tabatha Tennie and Kali Agler defeated Erin Hageman and Lexi Haselman 7-5, 6-3.
With the win, the Cougars are now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in league play, while O-G falls to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the WBL.
