Photo specifications for Fair

By Rex Dolby

If you are entering your photographs in the 2013 Van Wert County Fair and entry tags for the photography exhibit have not been picked up yet, they need to be claimed between the hours of 9-5 weekdays or on Saturday from 9-12 this week at the Van Wert County Fair Board office. Pictures for the exhibit will be checked in on Sunday, Aug. 25, between the hours of 1-5 p.m. Each picture is required to have an entry tag tied to wire on the back.  It will be hung in the category indicated on the tag, so take care that the correct tag is tied on each picture.

Only frames with openings no larger than 8×10 inches will be accepted and they must have screw eyes in the back with a wire attached for hanging. The eyes and wire are to assure that the when the picture is hung over the concrete floor it will stay in place during the exhibit. There is to be only one photo per frame. No grouping of images will be accepted. Panoramic pictures are permitted as long as the frame opening does not exceed 5×12 inches.

Youth who were under 18 years old on August first of this year are eligible to compete in the youth division. Several of these entries have done very well in other competitions, so we hope to see a lot of participation not only by the youth, but also by the older exhibitors as well. Judging will be on Monday evening and the fair officially begins on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 8 a.m.  Remember, pictures come in this Sunday, Aug. 25 from 1-5 p.m.

If you have any questions regarding our camera club, classes or programs or would like to sign up please call the Wassenberg Art Center at 419.238.6837, email info@wassenbergartcenter.org or register for classes online at wassenbergartcenter.org. Hours during exhibits are Tuesday through Sunday 1-5 p.m. The Wassenberg Art Center is located at 643 S. Washington St. in Van Wert.
