Junior Fair gears up for 2013 county fair
Van Wert County Fair news
The 2013 Junior Fair Board is busy preparing for this year’s Van Wert County Fair. As always, the fair board expects a high number of Junior Fair exhibits and is also looking forward to presenting a well-balanced program for county youths, with livestock, still exhibits, celebration of accomplishments, and demonstrations.
Highlights of the Junior Fair include 2013 Junior Fair king and queen coronation on Wednesday, August 28, at 5:30 p.m., followed at 6:30 that evening by the 4-H Special Awards presentation in the Gospel Pavilion.

New this year is the Livestock Dress Up Contest on Saturday, August 31, at 6:30 p.m. The Junior Fair board is asking for a $5 donation for participants to show off their animals to everyone while dressed up in any theme. Animals must currently be on the grounds and all ages can participate. Contact the Junior Fair Board for more information about this fun event.
The ever popular and well-attended 4-H Style Revue is again on Sunday, September 1, at 2 p.m., following the 4-H Talent Show. Another fair favorite is the Showman of Showmen Contest held again this year on Sunday, September 1, beginning at 6 p.m.
The Junior Fair livestock sale is always an integral part of the Junior Fair and will be held this year on Tuesday, September 3, starting at 9 a.m. in the Farm Focus Arena, following the close of the fair on Monday evening.
The Senior Fair Board has agreed that all Junior Fair exhibits may not be removed from the fairgrounds before 9 p.m. Monday, September 2. The 2013 fair will remain open until 10 that night — the last day of the fair.
The Junior Fair involves more young people than other organization in the county. The Junior Fair consists of 4-H clubs, FFA chapters, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Buckeye Youth. All fair patrons are encouraged to visit the Junior Fair Building to view the various displays, check out the livestock, poultry, rabbit and horse barns and shows, or find a Junior Fair exhibitor and give them a compliment for a job well done. These young people are the future of Van Wert County.
