VW defeats Kenton in girls’ tennis

KENTON — The Van Wert Lady Cougar tennis team defeated Kenton in an away Western Buckeye League match 3-2 on Monday.
Sophomore Ali Moreland lost to fellow sophomore Claire Oates at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-4, while Sydney Dull defeated Breanna Alexander 6-4, 6-0, at No. 2 singles and Claire Butler downed Kendra Tidd of Kenton 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 3 singles spot.
In doubles, the No. 1 Van Wert doubles team of Hannah Stemen and Sydney Felger fell to Calynn Morris and Kirsten Osborn in a close match, 7-5, 6-4, but the Cougars’ No. 2 doubles team of Tabatha Tennie and Kali Agler decided the match with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Ciera Navas and Sierra Prater.
Van Wert is now 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the WBL, while the Lady Wildcats fall to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.
