County DARE fishing derby coming soon
Van Wert County DARE news
The eighth bi-annual Van Wert County DARE Fishing Derby will be held September 14-15 at the Middle Point Quarry, located just west of the village of Middle Point on Middle Point Road.
Fishing starts at 7 a.m. and runs to 5 p.m. each day. Cost of the event is $50 for adults for both days or $30 for one day. Youngsters ages 10-17 can participate for a cost of $25 for both days and $15 for one day.
Youths must have a release signed by a parent or legal guardian, must wear a life vest while on the water, and must be with a parent, guardian or other family member.
A rules waiver must be signed and there can be no fishing from the quarry bank, but only from boats. No alcohol is permitted and life vests must be on each boat. Trolling motors only are permitted.
Those fishing can keep all the fish they catch, with prize money of $50 per day for the largest fish and total weight of five fish caught.
