Lancer boys do well at Tiffin meet

Lincolnview cross country news

TIFFIN — The Lincolnview boys’ cross country team competed at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival on Saturday. Tiffin is one of the largest meets in the nation, with over 7,000 athletes competing throughout the day.

The boys competed in the Division III-A race featuring nearly all the top-ranked teams in the state, and finished a respectable 13th place ahead of 10th-ranked Columbus Grove and just behind fifth-ranked Minster.

The Lancer boys were once again led by Bayley Tow, who placed 13th overall in the race of nearly 300 runners in a time of 16:54. Ben Bilimek finished 44th and Alex Rodriguez finished 66th.

“The boys ran hard today,” said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. “We placed right about where we thought we would.

“For us to take the next step forward we need to get more consistency out of our fourth to seventh guys and get them much closer to Ben and Alex,” Coach Langdon added. “Hopefully, we will take steps in that direction this coming week.”

The Lincolnview girls’ team traveled to Spencerville, where they were led by sophomore Anna Gorman, who placed 19th overall in a career best time of 21:38.  Abbie Enyart was 57th (23:59), Claira Rhoades 94th (26:04), and Mikinzie Dull 96th (26:06).

“The girls ran great today,” Coach Langdon said. “They took advantage of the early race time and cool conditions and all of them posted either a season best or a career best.

“I liked how they bounced back from last week, where we really didn’t run our best as a team,” he added. “They were excited to see how they improved and that is really what it is all about.”
