Cougar golfers lose to Wapakoneta

Wapakoneta traveled to Willow Bend Country Club and got comfortable quickly, shooting a season-best 159, while the Cougars continued to struggle with a 181 during the two teams’ Western Buckeye League match on Monday.

Match medalist was Wapak’s Bobby Crow, who carded a 37, while Redskins Drew Wayman shot a 39, Alex Gossard had a 41, Nick Bruns shot a 42, Dan Bogan a 46 and Ryan Hunlock a 52. Van Wert’s lowest man was Justin Price, who had a 43 on the day. Other Cougar golf scores included Adam Jurczyk at 45, Nick Etter with a 46, Brandon Hernandez at 47, Jacob Covey with a 52 and Alex Miller at 54.

With the win, Wapak goes to 7-2 in the league, while the Cougars drop to 3-7 overall.

Both teams will next play in the WBL tournament on Friday at Shawnee Country Club.
