Corrine Ann Snyder-Poulson, 87, of Edgerton, died at 4:33 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born January 19, 1926, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Fred N. and Martha Ann (Swander) Straley. In 1948, she married Gerald Lloyd Snyder, who preceded her in death on March 16, 2006. She then married David L. Poulson, who survives in Edgerton.

Corrine was a 1942 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School who earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree from Wright State University. She was a retired music teacher in the Wren and Crestview Local Schools, teaching a total of 23 years. She also was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, where she taught Sunday School, was director of the church handbell choir, and sang in the choir. She recently began attending Farmer United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Van Wert County Community Concert Association, Wren Historical Society and volunteered in the art department at Crestview. She enjoyed many crafts, including spinning, knitting, weaving, pottery and fiber art.

Other survivors include six children, Barbara (Daniel) Everidge, Jerry (Peggy) Snyder and Jack (Deborah) Snyder, all of Ohio City, Norma (Dean) Schweizer of Celina, Nancy (Karl) Hans of Churubusco, Ind., and Margaret (Mike) Fetcho of Holland (Ohio); six stepchildren, Peggy (Tonny) Lucas of Bryan, Barbara (Duane) Landfeld of Woodsfield, Paul (Debra) Poulson of Iron Mountain, Mich., Mark (Carol) Poulson of Ney, John (Lexie) Poulson of Archbold and Thomas (Sara) Poulson of Johnstown; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Fred, Albert and Virgil (in childhood) Straley; a sister, Grace McGee; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, at First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Hal Shafer officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Green Park Cemetery in Portland, Ind. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 20, at the Farmer United Methodist Church.

Calling hours are from 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 20, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Preferred memorials: Wren EMS, Hicksville EMS, First Presbyterian Church Music Fund, or the Farmer United Methodist Church Music Fund.
