‘I Shop Downtown’ prize winners named

Area residents who frequented their favorite Van Wert downtown shops or restaurants this summer likely saw the bright yellow “I Shop Downtown” customer cards at the register. Hopefully, shoppers participated in this downtown program as well.

The Promotions Committee of Main Street Van Wert began this summer shopping promotion in May, and participating downtown stores stamped each customer card at the time of a purchase. After three purchases of $10 or more, completed cards were turned into the MSVW office to be entered into monthly drawings for gift certificates from downtown shops. The summer promotion ended August 31, with more than 1,200 cards distributed by the 39 participating stores and restaurants.

“This was a great opportunity for business owners to join together to promote downtown Van Wert as a great place to shop,” explained Dawn Cooper, owner of Rehab Fab and an active member of the Promotions Committee. “We heard so much positive feedback from customers who want to shop the downtown that they remember from years ago.

“Many people came from other towns much larger than ours just to shop here, and the chance to win prizes from participating businesses helped to make it fun to shop in our town,” Cooper added.

Main Street Van Wert would like to thank all of the downtown businesses that participated in this fun summer shopping campaign.
