Van Wert volleyball news

The Van Wert Lady Cougar volleyball team took on the Elida Lady Bulldogs in its fourth Western Buckeye League match of the season, winning the match in three games by scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-22. The Cougars are now 8-2 on the season and 3-1 in the WBL.

Statistical leaders for Van Wert are as follows:

Kills – Alexis Dowdy and Alexa Dunlap, six kills each.

Serving – Claire Gamble, 17/18; and Riley Jones, 13/14 with an ace.

Assists – Jones and Amanda Coplin, nine assists each.

Defensive digs – Dunlap, 10 digs; and Jones, nine digs.

The Cougars will next play on Saturday as they travel to Wayne Trace to play the Lady Raiders and Bryan Lady Golden Bears in a non-conference volleyball tri-match.
