Lois Kathryn Kiehl
Lois Kathryn Kiehl, 93, of Van Wert, died at 2:10 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at Convoy Care Center.
She was born August 31, 1920, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Orbie and Nellie (Harter) Fisher. On October 13, 1940, she married Arthur Glenn Kiehl, who preceded her in death on July 18, 1997.
Lois was a homemaker and a nurse’s aide at Van Wert County Hospital who retired in 1982. She was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church in America in Harrison Township, and was a member of the church’s Women’s Guild. She was also a Peony queen candidate representing Ridge High School in 1940.
Lois loved her family. When they came to visit there would always be a plate of cookies to take home with them. Everyone looked forward to Christmas time and the box of cookies they would get from her. She loved her job on the maternity floor of the hospital, where she took care of the babies and got the chance to rock them. She will always be loved and missed by her family and many friends.
Survivors include a son, Raymond G. (Joan) Kiehl of Convoy; one daughter, Judy Bustin of Columbus; a grandson, Alan J. (Vickie) Kiehl of Westerville; one great-grandson, Brady G. Kiehl of Baltimore, Md.; and a sister, Doris Galloway of Ohio City.
A brother, Marvin Fisher; and one sister, Margaret Gruelach, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 26, at St. Paul’s Reformed Church in America, with the Rev. Chad Strabbing officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.
Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert.
