It was another great day of racing for the Van Wert Middle School cross country teams Saturday at the Van Wert County Hospital Invitational.  The boys’ team was well represented, finishing first out of 13 teams. The Lady Cougars also brought home a team trophy, finishing third out of 16 teams.

Pacing the Cougars were Thane Cowan and Blake Henry, who finished in eighth (12:01) and 13th (12:13) places, respectively. The squad’s tight pack was right on their heels: Stephen Hamblett (22nd in 12:47), Max Sealscott (23rd in 12:48), Michael Etter (36th in 13:06).  Korey Oechsle (69th in 13:50) and Kyle Spray (71st in 13:55) rounded out the top seven.

Also racing for the Cougars were Gage Chiles (82nd), Zac Tomlinson (113th), Noah Carter (118th), Noah Brubaker (127th), David Maurer (131st), Brayden Cox (141st), and Noah Arend (147th).

Cassidy Meyers paced the Lady Cougars. Her time of 13:04 earned her sixth place honors. Sierra Shaffer (13th in 13:35), Julia Springer (30th in 14:11), Nicole Clay (39th in 14:21), and Erienne Cassidy (54th in 14:50) contributed to the Cougar score. Emma Rutkowski (71st in 15:16) and Risa Pollock (90th in 15:49) completed the top seven.

Other Cougar runners were Kylee Bagley (108th), Chloe Boroff (116th), Sammy Allmandinger (129th), Caton Williamson (131st), Courtney Sanderson (136th), Michaela Johnson (137th), Kaileigh Gentry (139th), Hannah Kraner (141st), Nykee BIllingham (142nd), Allison Hauter (154th), and Victoria Etzler (158th).
