VW golfers win tri-match with LCC, Elida

The Van Wert varsity golf team put it all together Tuesday for its last home match, defeating Lima Central Catholic and Elida on beautiful day for golf at Willow Bend Country Club.

The three Cougar seniors all had outstanding days on the course, led by Justin Price’s 38. Adam Jurczyk carded a 39 and Lucas Etzler had a 42 for Van Wert. Junior Brandon Hernandez added a 41 to give Van Wert a season-low 160.

LCC was second with a 171, while Elida finished at 180.

Other Van Wert scores – Alex Miller, 44; and Nick Etter, 52.

The Cougars are hoping to take the momentum from the win into the Division II sectional tournament, which starts Thursday at Kalida.
