Van Wert independent/Board of Elections info
The Van Wert County Board of Elections announces that early voting for the Tuesday, November 5, general election has begun.
The voting will be done in the Commissioners’ Conference Room located next door to the Election Board (120 E. Main St.). Office hours are 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The only Saturday that the Board of Elections office will be open for voting will be October 26, from 10 a.m. to noon.
To vote an early ballot, local residents must be registered voters and provide either the last four digits of their social security number or driver’s license number (XX123456). If neither of these items is available, a copy of a current and valid photo ID (state ID card, government ID, etc.) may be used; however, the photo ID must show the name and address of the voter.
Another option is to bring a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document that shows the voter’s name and current address when voting.
Ballots may be sent out to voters who mail a signed request to the office, along with date of birth, driver’s license number (XX123456) or the last four numbers of the individual’s social security number, and an address where ballots may be sent (an absent ballot application can be found in the Community & Columns section under “Community Links”).
