Versailles wins Cougar v-ball tourney

The Van Wert Lady Cougar volleyball team finished fourth out of eight teams in the 2013 Van Wert Volleyball Invitational Tournament held on Saturday in the Van Wert High School and Middle School gyms.

The Midwest Athletic Conference dominated the event, with the top three teams all coming from the MAC. Versailles won the tournament with a victory over the New Knoxville Lady Rangers in the finals, while New Bremen defeated the Lady Cougars for third place in the tournament.

Van Wert won its first match against Elida, but then lost to New Knoxville, sending the Cougars to the loser’s bracket.

Van Wert then played the Lady Cardinals for third place, and lost that match for a fourth-place finish overall.
