Elks ed. grant applications now available

Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, is happy to announce that the Ohio Elks Association’s 2013-2014 education grants are available to any prospective student living within the jurisdiction of an Ohio Elks Lodge.
The grants are available to all those people, regardless of age, who want to further their career in a technical or vocational type program. Applications are available from the lodge scholarship chairman, Keith Rydell, at 419.234.4401 or ksrydell@earthlink.net. Applications and information is also available at www.web-ster.net/ohioelks/. The deadline for filing applications is February 1, 2014.
Applications for the Elks National Foundation’s 2014 Most Valuable Student contest are also available from the lodge chairman or online at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm. The MVS scholarships are only available to graduating seniors who will be attending a 4 year college or university. The deadline for filing the application is December 6.
Both the education grants and the Most Valuable Student application forms have been distributed to the guidance offices at the local schools.
Applicants don’t have to be related to a member of the Elks. College students are not eligible.
Legacy Awards scholarships applications for children and grand children of Elks are also available. This contest is open to any high school senior who is the child or grandchild, including steps, or legal ward of an Elk member in good standing for at least two years. The applicant must apply online only at www.scholarship@elks.org. The deadline for Legacy Awards is January 31, 2014.
