WAPAKONETA — The Van Wert Lady Cougar tennis team finished fifth in the Western Buckeye League tournament held at Wapakoneta High School over the weekend. Wapakoneta, which was undefeated in the regular season, also won the tournament and the league championship. Shawnee, which finished 8-1 on the year, also was second in the tournament, while Celina and Elida tied for fourth place in the tourney.

Ali Moreland finished in the third place in the tournament at No. 1 singles, while Claire Butler garnered the runner-up spot at the No. 3 singles position.

Van Wert’s Sydney Dull earned the Sportsmanship Award, which is given to only one of the approximately 70 individual WBL tennis players.
