MP man dies in county ATV accident

MIDDLE POINT — A Middle Point area man died early Saturday in an all-terrain vehicle accident that occurred near Middle Point-Wetzel Road.

Jeffrey S. Evans, 37, was pronounced dead at Van Wert County Hospital of injuries received in the accident, which occurred at approximately 1:50 a.m. Saturday.

According to reports, Evans was riding his Polaris Ranger north in a field alongside a ditch when the right front wheel of the vehicle slid over the edge of the ditch, sending the ATV into the ditch, where it overturned in seven feet of water.

The accident remains under investigation.
