Moreland advances to tennis districts

LIMA — The Van Wert team’s No. 1 singles player, Ali Moreland, has advanced to district tournament action with a third-place finish in the Division II sectional tournament action held October 3-5 in Lima.

Moreland lost to Claire Oates of Kenton 6-2, 6-0, but defeated Maggie Fett of Bluffton 6-0, 6-2 to take third place in the tournament.

Van Wert’s No. 1 doubles team of Claire Butler and Sydney Dull missed out on a berth in district tournament, falling in a tiebreaker to Celina 2-6, 6-3, 6-7 (5) in the semifinals.

Moreland will now compete in the Division II District Tournament on Wednesday.
