Charles R. “Chuck” Langdon, 68, of Van Wert, died at 2:29 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2013, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born January 15, 1945, in Van Wert, the son of the late Robert and Alice (Sells) Langdon.

He is survived by his children, Jodi (Brian) and Kristina (Chris). His grandchildren, Trevor (Shannon) Wilson of San Diego, Calif., Tyler Wilson of Paulding, Alexandra Gorman, Gracelyn Gorman, Anna Gorman and Madison Gorman, all of Van Wert; and a brother, Richard Langdon of New Jersey.

A sister, Gloria Whitcraft, also preceded him in death.

He was formerly employed by the City of Van Wert as a police officer and then in the Engineering Department as a traffic control officer and building inspector. Following his retirement from city employment, he worked for Westwood Behavioral Health Center in Van Wert.

He was a member of Jennings Road Church of Christ, Lodge 62, Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, all in Van Wert, as well as the Van Wert County Historical Society and many railroading organizations. He loved the railroads and was an avid collector of model trains and all types of railroad memorabilia. He enjoyed traveling to wherever the trains ran just to watch.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Randy Bevington officiating. At a later date, he will be laid to rest at his beloved Thurmond, W.Va.

There will be no calling hours prior to services.
