Emilene B. Henkle

Emilene B. Henkle, 89, of Rockford, died at 11:55 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, where she was a patient.

She was born March 9, 1924, in rural Mercer County, the daughter of the late Carl Fredrick and Gertrude (Brewster) Miller. On March 29, 1985, she married John Junior Henkle, who preceded her in death on March 1, 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Ron (Mary Anna) Weitz of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jack (Paula) Weitz of Celina; a stepson, the Rev. Dennis (Yvonne) Henkle  of Birmingham (Ohio); one daughter, Gloria (Jack) Clouse of Celina; a stepdaughter, Sandra (Bill) Shepherd of Van Wert; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Werner of Pennsylvania and Catherine (Paul) Eichler of Rockford; two brothers, Laverne (Martha) Miller of Monroe, and Kenneth (Deloris) Miller of Demotte, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Florence Miller of Rockford.

A brother, Herbert Miller; and two sisters, Ann Kosier and Helen Linn, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 31, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rockford, with Pastor Sharon Stonerock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Calling hours are from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
