1st Sgt. (ret.) Eugene Kent Vann

Retired First Sergeant Eugene Kent Vann, 55, of Fountain, Colo., and formerly of Rockford, died Friday, October 25, 2013, in Pueblo, Colo.

He was born September 9, 1958, in Celina, the son of Fred and Gloria Vann, who both survive in Rockford. He married Sharon Vann, who survives in Fountain, Colo.

American Flag for obituaries 6-2011Other survivors include two sons, Christopher Vann of Atlanta, Ga., and Bryon Vann of Fountain, Colo.; two daughters, Holly (Lane) Faust and Danielle (Clayton) Johnson, both of Fountain; a brother, Mike Vann of Rockford; three sisters, Pamela Wells of Columbus, Donna (Carey) Huston of Celina and Cheryl (Steve) Hambley of Brunswick; and six grandchildren.

His grandparents, John Vann Sr., Ethel Vann and Clarence and Dorothy Emerson, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday, November 2, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Todd Moser officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, with full military honors.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m.-noon at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Fountain, Colo., Knights of Columbus.
